Back in 2012, it was very easy to run for president in Arizona. All you had to do was file a notarized document and you would get your place on the primary ballot.
My friend Jim Nintzel at the Tucson Weekly organized Project White House, what he called a “reality journalism” competition, where he recruited local characters to run in the Republican primary and compete for the newspaper’s endorsement.
He asked if I’d fly down and moderate a Daily Show-style debate on Access Tucson, the local public station. This is our sizzle real. (The other debate moderator is Amanda Hurley, and you should go see her perform in New York.)
